Sepracor manufactures Hypnite 2mg (Eszopiclone), a prescription medication. It's a sedative-hypnotic, which means it works to reduce brain activity and encourage the body to slumber. As a result, it's frequently prescribed as a sleeping medication to treat common sleep disorders.
Benzodiazepines and Hypnite have similar calming and relaxing effects. Hypnite, on the other hand, is seen to be a safer choice, with research indicating that it has fewer adverse effects and withdrawal symptoms than Benzos. Unlike several Benzodiazepines, Hypnite is not known to produce rebound insomnia after therapy.
How Does Hypnite Function?
Eszopiclone is the active component in Lunesta. Eszopiclone binds to the GABA receptor in the brain in a similar fashion to Benzodiazepines. GABA is a neurotransmitter that sends messages from the brain to the rest of the body.
When the GABA receptor and Eszopiclone interact, larger quantities of the GABA chemical are produced, causing brain activity to halt. This relaxes and calms the muscles, giving the body a sleepy feeling and allowing it to rest overnight.
